Realistic Prerequisites

  • *Experience: Generally the more experience with upper-level math classes and research the better. It is thus recommended that this class be taken as an upperclassman.

Subject Matter

  • In this course you do projects, so you will learn a lot about the topic(s) that you’ve selected.

Course Staff

  • Caring and approachable: The staff were great. They were ample with feedback and put in lots of time outside of class to help.

Lectures

  • There were no lectures.

Problem Sets

  • There were no problem sets.

Exams

  • There were no exams.

Resources

  • There were no resources outside of presentation notes for some workshops.

Grading

  • Students found the grading more harsh than fair.
  • The grading was very not transparent. A TA said that 17/20 translates to an A.

Advice to Future Students

  • It’s important to get a good group. Try to do the class with friends if possible. Communicate early with your team.
  • Make sure you have experience in at least one area of math!
