Realistic Prerequisites

  • Some students recommended taking linear algebra and having some programming background.
  • Other students recommended being familiar with typing in LaTeX.

Subject Matter

  • Students thought that they learned a lot about how math communication works.
  • Students found they learned theoretical and applied topics, depending on the topic they worked on.

Course Staff

  • The math and communication mentors were both very helpful.
  • Mentors were willing to meet outside of class.

Lectures

  • There were not lectures, just workshops at the beginning of the semester on how to write and communicate math.
  • Some students wanted more of these workshops.

Problem Sets

  • There were no problem sets for this course.
  • The course assignments consisted of 3 technical papers, based on some research questions, and a presentation of one of the papers.

Exams

  • There were no exams.

Resources

  • Students used notes on Canvas about LaTeX and how to write.
  • There were no other course resources for this course.
